PATIENT SUPPORT

We offer tailored support to mums or birthing parents diagnosed with cancer during pregnancy, within 12 months of giving birth, or following baby loss related to a
cancer diagnosis. We can...
  • connecting them with a dedicated Information & Support Worker who can provide emotional support and knowledge and information

  • access to a peer support forum

  • signposting and referrals to other supportive organisations

  • small grants programme

  • support beyond treatment, including advice on returning to work, future fertility etc.

  • support library and hub for articles, real life stories and special offers

  • support for incurable primary, secondary, and end of life diagnoses (including memory making)

Emotional Support

Our Support Workers are matched one-to-one and will remain in contact as long as required by your patient. They can use whichever method of communication you prefer (email, text, phone call etc.) and are there to listen and to give information on the challenges and possibilities you are facing.

All our Support Workers have either worked in cancer and/or maternity services, and many have experienced cancer in or around pregnancy themselves.

As well as being a friendly voice and a listening ear, they can help your patient to access further elements of our services and support from other providers too.

Peer Support Forum

We host a private, closed Facebook group as a mutually supportive peer resource for eligible patients. It's a place for them to find connection, understanding, and to share experiences with others mums and parents.

The Forum is monitored by our Support Workers during office hours; outside of these hours it is peer-led.

Financial Support

Our Support Workers can provide advice and information to your patient, to help them navigate the financial impact of a cancer diagnosis.

We also operate a small non-means tested grant programme, which aims to provide financial relief when most needed.
Your patient must be eligible and grants are limited to one per family.

Support Hub and Support Library

Our Support Hub and Library contain a wealth of helpful articles, real life stories, and special offers that might be useful for your patient.

These resources are free to access here on our website, but some of the offers are only available to individuals being supported by Mummy's Star.

Diagnosis, treatment and beyond

All of our support is available during diagnosis, treatment and beyond. We will tailor to each individual patient and their circumstances, to be responsive to any changes in their prognosis or personal situation.

We can also provide tailored support to eligible patients and their families who are facing end of life, including memory making support and pre- and post-bereavement support.
