WHO WE ARE
Meet the mums we support and read their stories
The news of a pregnancy or a recent birth is an exciting time for all prospective and existing parents. It can, however, be cruelly interrupted by the news of a cancer diagnosis and the worry that this brings to both you and your wider family.
Mummy’s Star has been set up specifically to offer support if you find yourself in this situation and we hope that by providing comprehensive information and links in this section, it will help you to get the support you need, access services that are available to you but most importantly know that you are not alone when you are going through this.
The information contained here is reviewed on an ongoing basis and will also be added to as new information becomes known about cancer in pregnancy. Likewise, as we receive more enquiries, we will add to the FAQs section in order to be able to try and answer as many of your questions in one place as possible.
Please contact us here and we can discuss more specifically how we can support you and your family.

Supporting you in your role to better care for your patients
How can Mummy's Star support me?
With just two people a day diagnosed with cancer in or around pregnancy, it can be rare for a midwife or health professional to come across a patient in this unfortunate and frightening, situation. You are the expert in your role and Mummy’s Star has experts in this unique and often uncertain situation, ready to support you through its unique challenges.

The Support Team at Mummy’s Star have all lived with or worked in the field of cancer, providing vital academic and anecdotal advice and a deep well of empathy and understanding, which you can access.

As well as the articles on our website, to increase your personal knowledge and understanding, we also provide a list of useful resources and organisations, and can connect you with a named Information & Support Worker if you feel you would benefit from knowledgeable peer support. They offer regular check-ins either by text, email or phone where you can talk about anything you are worried about or would like further information on.

We want to support you – personally and professionally - as you experience and manage the practical and emotional challenges that exist at the intersection of cancer and pregnancy.
If you would like to access our support for yourself, please do not hesitate to contact us.

How can Mummy's Star support my patient?
There are many ways that the team at Mummy’s Star can support your patient, diagnosed with cancer in or around their pregnancy.

The first step for you, as their healthcare professional, would be to fill out a referral form which will allow our Team to confirm their eligibility through Mummy’s Star. Alternatively, they can fill one out themselves. Following this, they will gain access to a variety of support options including:

-
advice and emotional support from a designated Information and Support Worker
-
connection with other mums going through similar experiences on the private Mums Forum
-
the opportunity to apply for a grant of up to £250 towards cancer or pregnancy related costs (conditions apply)
